Alaska Rainbow Trout Fishing

August is a Great Time to Visit Alaska

When new clients call to book a dream Alaska fishing trip with us, they often concentrate on the months of June and July.  While every angler should experience fishing for Kings on the Kenai River at least once in their lifetime, skipping the June and July King Salmon crowds can lead to great fishing experiences in August.  Silvers, reds, and pinks are all running in August.  Silver Salmon are aggressive, hard fighting fish that make for incredible battles.  Their meat is mild and delicious making them one of the favorite salmon varieties for our professional Chefs.

Fat Rainbows can be targeted in August below the spawning beds as they gorge themselves on fresh salmon eggs.  These trout are massive, with some Kenai River monsters topping 20 pounds.

Finally, the ocean fishing for Rockfish, lingcod and delicious halibut is as hot as ever in August.

August is also one of the best times of year to view wildlife with bears regularly visiting the streams and rivers to gorge themselves on spawning salmon.  Whales are also still in Alaskan waters in abundance in August.

Our lodges are both open throughout the month and we have some great Hot Deals going for August 2018.   Choose to save $500 per person (based on a minimum stay of 5 nights) or a $250 discount + a Free Fly-Out fishing charter.  Catch a limit of Sockeye or Silvers and see the amazing bears!  This Hot Deal is restricted to our Trophy Lodge Property in Soldotna.Check out our Hot Deals page for more information.
